Torque On The Move holds its first-ever night edition

Torque, Singapore's leading motoring monthly published by SPH Magazines, held its Torque On The Move 2017 Night Edition on 26^th August 2017. The eighth edition of the title's annual automotive telematch was the first to be held at night and was inspired by the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix night race, which marks its 10^th year in 2017.

Torque On The Move 2017 Night Edition gave a moonlit twist to the event and provided the participants with a unique, islandwide telematch experience from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. The flag-off was at Singapore's newest and largest automobile hub Carros Centre, the presenter of this year's event.

60 pairs of participants had to decipher clues leading to the four compulsory checkpoints called Torque Junctions, where the participants added to their points already earned in the three pre-event challenges and 12 bonus challenges.

The teams found themselves bowling with a tyre at the Bridgestone junction, swinging away at HomeRun Baseball, and solving Motul jigsaw puzzles at yet another Torque Junction location. There were also late-night activities in the bonus challenges - participants had to seek out 24-hour F&B outlets, nightspots, and 'the scariest place in Singapore'.

Tired but exhilarated participants returned to the end point at Carros Centre to tuck into a sumptuous supper, with fringe activities and attractive lucky draw prizes up for grabs. At midnight, the event concluded with the three top-scoring teams on the winners' podium.

The team of Chen Zhaolin and Anthony Soh Kok Boon (Team 3) finished in first place, while Jared Lim and Benjamin Yap (Team 13) came home in second. Tan Yi-Roe and Junie Tay Ying Ru (Team 10) rounded off the podium by finishing in third place.

The team in pole position drove away with $7,600 worth of prizes, including a pair of Formula One passes from Carros Centre, a set of Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres, a Motul hamper, a pair of Luminox Tony Kanaan watches and more.

Chen Zhaolin, 33, of the winning team, said, "This is our second Torque On The Move. Last year, we ran around like headless chickens. This time, we knew the importance of planning. So we figured out the Torque Junction clues before setting off. We will definitely come back next year, as long as we are both in Singapore when TOTM 2018 takes place!"
