What you should know about the updated 911 Turbo S
08 Jun 2026|18 views
The Porsche 911 Turbo S has always been the final boss of the 911 lineup. Not the loudest. Not the flashiest. But the one that quietly rearranges your internal organs at will.
And you know what? The car is now all the better for it. Here's what really matters:
1. It's a hybrid, but not the kind you think
Let's clear the air. The updated 911 Turbo S isn't trying to save more trees. There's no charging required, no electric-only mode and certainly no smug silence.
Instead, the new T-Hybrid system that was first seen on the 911 GTS exists purely to make the Turbo S faster and more brutal. Underneath the car lies a 3.6-litre flat-six powerplant that comes with a 400V setup. It's fed by a small 1.9 kWh battery pack that drives three electric motors - one in the PDK gearbox and two in the turbochargers.
Think of it less like a hybrid, and more like Porsche weaponising electrification, just not how policymakers wanted it to be. No eco mission. No compromises. No nonsense
2. It's now the most powerful road-going 911 ever
The result of this is 701bhp and 800Nm of twisting force, allowing the car to get from zero to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds flat. This also means the Turbo S is now the most powerful road-going 911 ever.
What this means is, when translated to real-life driving, the car is absurdly quick. Floor the right pedal and the car immediately drops gears smoothly and surely, as the tacho needle climbs steadily and swiftly to the redline. This, of course, is accompanied by a roaring soundtrack that will send shivers down your spine.
You don't need to chase anyone when this happens. You don't even need to wait. Torque is available on tap like it's a naturally aspirated machine and it just stays there, like it has nothing else to do and nowhere else to go. And it's just lovely.
3. Turbo lag? What's turbo lag?
The previous 992.1 Turbo S was already brutally quick, but like any turbocharged car, there was always a slight lag between the throttle and full-blown chaos.
Thanks to Porsche's T-Hybrid system, turbo lag is completely deleted in this 992.2 model that you see here. The two turbochargers are electrically assisted, meaning they can spool instantly without waiting for exhaust gases.
Hence, the moment you flex your right foot, the car responds immediately. No build-up and no hesitation. Just pure relentless, dramatic acceleration. Get off the throttle and the system recovers energy back into the battery, effectively giving you excess boost for potential power.
4. You can still drive it comfortably for lunch
Despite all its power and bravado, the 911 Turbo S isn't just all about speed and power. Sure, acceleration figures like this one used to be reserved only for hypercars a decade ago, but today you can utilise a 2.5-second sportscar like the Turbo S for school runs and lunch appointments.
The car displays a high level maturity in the way it takes in all the tarmac imperfections in its stride without sending any vibrations into the cabin. Best part of all, insulation problems that have always plagued 911s are now gone. External noise is kept well at bay, so you can fully enjoy your music while performing father duties.
All that said, the 992.2 Turbo S isn't a revolution. It's an upgrade in attitude. It takes everything the Turbo S has always been - the quiet assassin, the all-weather supercar - and turns it into an absurdly faster and yet more comfortable daily driver.
5. The car is already available in Singapore
The new Turbo S was just recently launched on our island and is now readily available for you if your pockets are deep. The car, as of today, will set you back about $1.27m (as of time of writing). Is it too much? Yes, it is. Then again, we can jolly well say the same the way the car behaves. It now reacts faster, thinks faster and hits harder.
Truth is, in a time when everything is going electric and car prices are absolutely insane, everything just seems pricey, but almost nothing seems too much.
