Smart has revealed its production ready, all-electric Smart #1.
The crossover retains much of the rounded form we first saw on the Smart Concept 1. At just 4,270mm long and 1,822mm wide, the car utilises short overhangs designed to maximise interior space despite its small footprint.
The Smart #1 utilises a 66kW nickel-manganese-cobalt battery to deliver a WLTP range of 440km Premium design touches on the Smart #1 also include the use of electric door handles, frameless doors, and on the top, a floating roof also features.
On the inside, a tall centre console divides the front passengers. Atop this console rests a 12.8-inch infotainment screen, which houses a dedicated app environment and customisable user interface, as well as the controls for most of the vehicles' functions including navigation, climate control, interior lighting and sound.
The system also houses an intelligent voice activated avatar that can take voice commands. And all this is powered by a high-performance computing architecture, which Smart states, utilises electronic computing units of which up to 75% can be continuously iterated and updated remotely.
A 9.2-inch instrument cluster pairs with a 12.8-inch infotainment display inside the Smart #1 Further assisting easy driving too is a 9.2-inch instrument cluster, alongside a 10-inch head-up display.
The Smart #1 is being launched with a 268bhp output which is sent to the rear wheels. Peak torque generated from this electric motor is 343Nm, and the Smart #1 will reach a top speed of 180km/h.
This power will come supplied via a 66kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, delivering up to 440km of range per the WLTP test cycle.
This battery can be charged at up to 150kW via a direct current source, taking less than 30 minutes to reach from 10% to 80% capacity, while maximum charging speed via an alternating current is 22kW.
