Bentley has widened its newly formed 'S' range with the new Flying Spur S.
The Bentley 'S' range is said to endow the firm's cars with visual, tactile and aural enhancements for a heightened driving experience.
As with the Continental GT S coupe and Continental GTC S convertible, the Flying Spur S does without Bentley's flagship W12 6.0-litre engine. Instead, the car will be offered with either the 4.0-litre V8, or the firm's hybrid 2.9-litre V6 drivetrain.
Opt for the V8 and you'll also get a redesigned sports exhaust, all the better to deliver that V8 bellow. And if you opt for the hybrid, your Flying Spur S will come with what Bentley simply states are 'ingenious sound enhancements' in the engine bay, designed to match the more sporting character of the car for the driver, while maintaining low sound levels in the rear cabin.
Either way, the Flying Spur S will continue the athletic and understated look offered from the rest of the 'S' range, thanks to its gloss black lower bumper grilles, dark tinted headlamps and rear lights, as well as black quad tailpipe finishers. The grille of the Bentley Flying Spur S likewise gets gloss black vertical vanes and a gloss black surround. Only the winged Bentley badge and lettering on the bootlid retain their chrome finish.
A two-tone colour split interior is offered for the Bentley Flying Spur S which makes use of both smooth hide and soft-napped Dinamica A 22-inch wheel with a five Y-spoke design or a 21-inch tri-spoke wheel design - unique to the 'S' range - is offered on the Bentley Flying Spur S. These wheels will house standard-fit red brake calipers.
And in the cabin, the Bentley Flying Spur S will come with a choice of performance-focused two-tone colour splits, hand crafted in Crewe's leather shop using a combination of smooth hide and soft-napped Dinamica.
Special Bentley 'S' design fluted seats are also present here, although quilting available as an option. These seats will get an 'S' emblem embroidered on each headrest, although customers can opt to have the Bentley wings embroidered instead as a no-cost alternative.
The Bentley Flying Spur S also sports instrumentation that takes inspiration from motorsport chronometers, with the same graphics as the Continental GT Speed.
The Flying Spur S will also sport the Bentley Dynamic Ride - a 48V electric active anti-roll control system capable of applying up to 1300 Nm of anti-roll torque in 0.3 seconds. The system helps to keep the vehicle's body flat and stable under spirited cornering, whilst delivering a smooth and supple ride for passengers at gentler velocities by decoupling the wheels across each axle. Electronic all-wheel steering is also included as standard.
