Volkswagen announces Golf stationwagon with all-wheel drive system

The Golf Variant 1.6-litre TDI 4MOTION comes with 105bhp and maximum torque of 250Nm good for a fuel rating of only 22.2km/L  - an 18 percent lesser than its predecessor. For customers who demand more power, there is now the 2.0-litre TDI with 150bhp and 320Nm of torque which is rated at 20.8km/L of diesel. The power transmission between the engine and all-wheel drive is provided by a six-speed manual transmission for both versions.

The permanent all-wheel drive of the new Golf Variant is one of the most modern and efficient systems of its kind in the world. The latest version is equipped with an advanced fifth generation Haldex clutch and the intelligently controlled system works without an accumulator and reacts quickly to all kinds of driving conditions.

The Golf Variant 1.6-litre TDI 4MOTION is available from €24,400 (S$41,039) while the 2.0-litre TDI starts at €29,075 (S$48,900).
