Jason Peng is primarily a true automotive enthusiast, and for more than a decade, has exercised his love for automobiles with top quality upholstery craftsmanship. Jason started off by working in well recognised workshops along the Bukit Merah stretch for almost eight years, and on a fine day, decided to become his own boss.

The Long Hard Road

Auto Interior Upholstery Services came from humble beginnings to where it is today
Equipped with almost ten years of experience in the automotive field, Jason decided to transfer his knowledge of the business and his interest of cars with the inauguration of his own company back in 2010 - Auto Interior Upholstery Services.

While the company has received much accolades and fans for his work, Jason could only operate the company on a part time basis with the lack of proper client base and funding. Like many start-ups, Jason faced numerous rejections and rude responses too initially.

The negative response from industry friends and rival workshops did not deter Jason, whom as a single man, started off from half a workshop space - courtesy of a customer that saw potential and eventual growth through Jason's hard work.

Slowly but surely Jason acquired customers via referrals and positive word-of-mouth recommendations. Jason also distributed his business card and company brochures at neighbouring workshops personally - to spread awareness of his business. Despite the limited workshop space, thanks to a proper roof Jason's business saw improvements with customers calling in for the company's services.

Jason started his upholstery business small but strived hard. He pulled in long hours and through the years gained the trust and appraisal of many satisfied customers and workshops. After a period of time, Jason posted an advertisement about his business on sgCarMart and coupled with increasing awareness of his company and skilled work, Auto Interior Upholstery Services took off, armed with a reputable name in the car maintenance industry here, till today.

Why is soft top maintenance important?

Cars with soft top require proper maintenance
Unlike hardtop convertibles that are constructed with metal roofs, soft tops are usually made of vinyl or canvas. Soft tops are cheaper to manufacture and certain manufacturers claim the cars design language is visually better with a soft top then duplicated in steel. Soft tops also require less space for storage and weigh lighter as they do not contain complex mechanisms for the 'origami' folding action.

Fundamentally soft tops are 'high quality umbrella fabrics' with poorer weather protection - compared to the hard top counterparts. Like a normal cloth, a soft top roof tends to wear away or even resort to tearing if not treated with care. While snow isn't an issue here, our sunny tropics get a fair share of monsoon wrath and the resulting downpour could cause a leakage. The substance applied to the fabric also wears off over time and proper care and maintenance is needed if you need a proper shelter.

Do note that improper maintenance of your soft top may affect not only the beauty but also resale value.
