  • Nine girly cars that no self-respecting man should ever drive

    05 Apr 2018

There are differing opinions on what defines a manly car, but one thing is for sure, no self-respecting man should ever be caught dead driving one of these.

Some say sports cars such as the Nissan Skyline GT-R, Audi RS5, Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Evolution are manly while others think that real men drive muscle cars and 4x4s like the Land Rover Defender, Hummer H1 and Ford F-150 Raptor. Whatever the case may be, we can all agree on the fact that some cars were clearly designed with the woman driver in mind.

Before you get all riled up and start a vlog rant on how this article is elitist, sexist or demeaning to the fairer sex, calm yourself. Any man, or woman, is entitled to drive whatever car they want. This list of 'girly' cars is purely for entertainment purposes. That said, here are nine cars that no self-respecting man should be caught dead driving, ever.

    1. BMW i3

Who drives it: The one who advocates vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO diets, and whose sole purpose in life is to save the trees.

What makes it girly: Boxy electric car that lacks manly exhaust sounds

    A manly alternative: BMW 330e

    2. Daihatsu Copen

Who drives it: The one who brings her Corgi to Tanjong Beach Club every weekend, sips on Pina Coladas, and uses hashtags like #TGIF and #OOTD.

What makes it girly: Rounded edges in a sprightly little package

    A manly alternative: Honda S660

    3. DS 3 Cabriolet

Who drives it: The one who religiously keeps up with the Kardashians, stays up all night to order the next Kylie Lip Kit, and loses her mind when someone else wears the same top.

What makes it girly: Over-the-top flair that loves turning heads

A manly alternative: MINI JCW Convertible

    4. Fiat 500

Who drives it: The one who shops at flea markets, attends art festivals and poetry recitals, and doesn't subscribe to the mainstream.

What makes it girly: Tiny footprint with a retro styling that blends in well at Haji Lane

A manly alternative: Renault Clio R.S.

    5. Mazda MX-5

Who drives it: The one who aspires to be the next David Gan, keeps a flat iron in her purse at all times and binge watches America's Next Top Model.

What makes it girly: Flamboyant outlook with an exuberant character

    A manly alternative: Honda S2000

    6. Mercedes-Benz SLC

Who drives it: The one who marries a rich Indonesian businessman only to divorce him years later and live off child support for the rest of her life.

What makes it girly: Soft, non-aggressive features with a carefree attitude

    A manly alternative: Jaguar F-TYPE

    7. MINI One

Who drives it: The one who fantasises about being Charlize Theron in The Italian Job and would rather paint the town red than submit to the mundanities of everyday life.

What makes it girly: Fun, feisty personality without the aggressiveness of its peers

A manly alternative: Volkswagen Golf, BMW 1 Series

    8. Volkswagen Beetle

Who drives it: The one who spends her Saturdays having all-day breakfasts at her favourite cafe while sipping on 'coffee' that has less caffeine than Iced Milo.

What makes it girly: Round, curvaceous body with a bubbly personality

    A manly alternative: Porsche 911

    9. Subaru R1/R2

Who drives it: The one who doesn't drink or party, goes to church on Sundays, and is the one you'd be proud to introduce to your family.

What makes it girly: It's the baby sister in a family of rough and tough men

A manly alternative: There are none
