The all new Camry has finally arrived and it may be one executive sedan that embodies the highest levels of luxury car design both inside and out, resulting in a modern sleek and dynamic appearance and plush interior whilst maintaining its true hallmarks worthy of the Camry badging.
According to Mr. Michihiko Sato, Toyota Camry's Chief Engineer, during an interview, the all new Camry is now more prestigious and bold - in line with their target audience - with a more spacious interior and improved driving dynamics and fuel consumption. "The Camry is a symbol of Toyota's prestige and we are confident that the all new executive sedan will redefine your perception of sophisticated driving excellence", said the Chief Engineer. The Camry offers three powertrain choices: 2.0-litre, 2.5-litre and the Camry Hybrid.
The 2.0-litre powerplant is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with a standard list of features such as the all new 6-speaker display audio system, steering wheel with audio controls, dual zone auto climate with rear air vents, automatic on/off headlamps, integrated reverse camera as well as 16-inch alloy wheels. It produces a maximum of 148bhp and 190Nm of torque to finish the century sprint in 12.5 seconds.
The 2.5-litre Camry has a better proposition. For a mere $6,000 more, you'll get a car that is mated to a better and higher 6-speed automatic transmission that will churn out a maximum of 181bhp and 231Nm of torque. These figures will send the executive sedan to thwe 100km/h mark in a shoter and more enthusiastic 9.7 seconds flat. Credit also goes to the dual VVT-i engine which controls the valve timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts for optimal performance and efficiency at all engine speeds. Also available during launch will the Camry Hybrid which has a higher maximum output of 205bhp and 213Nm of torque. As a result, the car hit the century mark in just 8.6 seconds. More importantly, as a hybrid, it has an outstanding fuel economy of 5.8L/100km, which is an improvement over its predecessor. Also new in the Camry Hybrid is an EV drive mode which allows the driver to operate the car on the electric motor alone for up to 2km at lower speeds.
