3.07 million cars delivered by Volkswagen around the globe in six months

A total of 3.07 million vehicles were handed over to customers by Volkswagen around the globe in the first half of the year, representing an increase of 3.8 percent year-on-year.

"Developments at Volkswagen Passenger Cars in the first half year were stable thanks to the brand's convincing model range. The Golf in particular continues to be a best-seller - not only as a classic Golf, but also in the Variant (above) or Sportsvan versions," remarked Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand.

Volkswagen delivered 864,100 vehicles on the overall European market in the first six months while deliveries in the home market of Germany also increased by 0.8 percent to 285,700. Volkswagen delivered 282,600 vehicles in the North America region while the South American region faced a slump of 21.1 percent to 317,300.

Deliveries in the Asia-Pacific region in the first half of 2014 grew by 16.8 percent, with the brand handing over 1.50 million vehicles to customers, including 1.39 million units to customers in China (including Hong Kong).
