A 43-year-old driver has been arrested in relation to a fatal accident that took place on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on Monday, Sept 21st, reports The Straits Times.
The woman was arrested for causing death by negligent act. The accident was earlier reported to have involved a motorcycle and a truck. It resulted in the death of the motorcyclist, a 25-year old Singaporean man. The truck driver was arrested at the scene. But upon further investigation, the police arrested the woman the next day.
Video footage that has surfaced online showed that a third vehicle may be involved in the accident. A 36-second video clip, shot from the rear view camera of a vehicle, was put up by the Singapore Reckless Drivers Community on its Facebook page.
The clip showed a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which was on the right-most lane of the expressway, attempting to filter to the left. The SUV bumped into the motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control and crash into the truck. It is understood that the woman arrested is the SUV driver.
The truck driver is still assisting the police with investigations. Both drivers are understood to be out on bail.
