A walk through the pits at the Singapore Grand Prix

For the first time in its six years running, the pits of the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix were opened for an exclusive pit walk. Named the 'Thursday Pit Lane Experience', 3,000 members of the public were able to get up close and personal, and get behind the scenes of the adrenaline-packed F1 race here on our shores.

Previously, the pit lane walk was only opened to Paddock Club ticket holders. This year, race organiser Singapore GP decided to offer 2,500 tickets to the general public - including those who do not hold tickets to the race - via balloting.
To crank up the atmosphere leading to the big race, Singapore GP has prepared a lineup of programme, including live performances from VOX, a local based Pop-Rock string quartet, and Adrenalina, a Colombian quintet, with an ensemble of Salsa, Pop, Jazz and Reggae hits.
A centre booth - which houses racing simulators, a race car from Pirelli, as well as other activities - was also set up to create a carnival experience for the participants.
The crowd then proceeded to the highlight of the night - a walk through 22 of the most technologically advanced race pits in the world. Participants were able to catch a glimpse of preparation works at the pits, which are seldom seen, as well as to walk on the actual track of the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
The 2013 Formula One Singtel Singapore Grand Prix will be held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend, 20th to 22nd September. Visit back as we bring you the full report of the race event.
