Aimed as a platform to promote and showcase local talents at the drifting motorsports, Canon Nations Cup involves a relatively different competition format – drivers of the same country will be paired for two tandem runs. The emphasis of the race, other than stylishness of the drift, lies with the teamwork and coordination of the team members. Teams are also allowed to include props in their runs to enhance their performance.

Other than Jansen, the Singapore team comprises of eight other drifters, including Ivan Lim, Felix Lim, Vincent Ng, Winston Ang, Benjamin Chiam, Alvin Tay, Jason Tan, and Geoveen Hi. Catch our interview with Geoveen Hi here. They will be met with competitors from five other countries, such as USA, Oceania, Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan. The Japanese team clinched the Nations Cup in the first leg of the tournament in Malaysia.
The local event is scheduled to take place at the Changi Exhibition Centre this weekend, 30th June to 1st July. In addition, the event will be broadcasted live on ESPN STAR Sports, a first for the Singapore race. For details of the event schedule please visit http://www.formuladriftasia.com/?page_id=2100

Sharing his enthusiasm for the competition is Jansen Tan, Singapore’s leading drifter, "I've only been out of action for a year, but the game has really moved on since I last competed in 2010. I am back this season with a new car – my V8-powered Nissan Silvia S15 – and it feels good to be back in the competition. The standard of Formula Drift Asia has been steadily improving since the first one I took part in four years ago and the cars are becoming much more powerful with higher driver skill levels. After competing in Malaysia last month, I am excited to drift in front of the home crowd and supporters this weekend!"
