Acura ADX makes world debut

Acura has unveiled a new ADX for the U.S.A market.

The new premium compact SUV is designed to welcome young buyers to the brand and promises an engaging driving experience, a feature-rich interior, and top-class cabin and cargo space that supports their active lifestyles.

The Acura ADX is set to get a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine 

Exterior design highlights for the car include its 'frameless' Diamond Pentagon grille up front, low horizontal beltline, and muscular rear fenders, the latter further emphasised by wide-set signature Acura Chicane LED daytime running lights and brake lights.

This exterior also features a comprehensive aerodynamics package that includes an active grille shutter, front lip spoiler, and underfloor cover, all aimed at improving the car's fuel efficiency.

In the cabin, the Acura ADX gets a 10.2-inch Acura Precision Cockpit digital instrument display and a 9.0-inch colour touchscreen as standard, with the latter offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Higher trim cars will also get features including Ultrasuede seats, a panoramic moonroof, ventilated front seats, or a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

And powering all this is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. Described as being similar to the unit used in the Integra, this four-cylinder unit gets direct fuel injection alongside a high-efficiency, high-response turbocharger.

This engine will come paired with what is described as a sport-tuned continuously variable transmission, which the driver will be able to control thanks to the addition of paddle shifters on the steering wheel. This transmission also comes complete with early downshift during braking and Step Shift programming that simulates gear changes under hard acceleration.

An advanced all-wheel drive system that can send up to 50% of engine torque to the rear wheels for improved handling puts power from this transmission system to the road.

The Acura ADX is expected to arrive at Acura dealers across the U.S.A by early 2025.
