Acura has revealed its first all-electric model, the ZDX, alongside the ZDX Type S.
Both cars have been designed by the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, and mark the production debut of Acura's new design direction that was first introduced in 2022 at Monterey Car Week on the Acura Precision EV.
The ZDX and ZDX Type S both sport a low and wide body, and feature Acura's iconic Chicane daytime running lights as well as the firm's Diamond Pentagon front grille, now reinterpreted for the electric age. The Acura ZDX Type S also debuts a new Acura colour, Double Apex Blue Pearl, first utilised on the Acura Precision EV Concept.
Inside, the ZDX gets an 11-inch Cockpit Driver Information Cluster and an 11.3-inch Centre Infotainment Screen. The infotainment system here features Google built-in (a first for Acura) as standard, adding apps like Google Assistant and Google Maps to offer users a more personalised and streamlined driving experience.
Google Maps can additionally be displayed on either screen in both models of the Acura ZDX, allowing the front passenger to assist with route planning. The app will also show recommended charging stations, and can estimate the charging time required for users to reach their destination. It will additionally initiate battery preconditioning if a direct current fast charging station is selected as a destination.
The Acura ZDX will also come as standard with an 18-speaker Bang and Olufsen premium sound system that has been engineered exclusively for its tech-rich cabin.
Acura states that the single-motor 'A-Spec' ZDX will offer an estimated total of 340bhp, alongside an anticipated U.S.A EPA range of 523km. A dual-motor 'A-Spec' variant will also be offered with an anticipated range of 507km. The Acura ZDX Type S, meanwhile, will come with an estimated total of 500bhp and an anticipated range of 463km. Both the ZDX and ZDX Type S will come with a 102kWh lithium-ion battery.
The Acura ZDX Type S will additionally come with height adjustable air suspension, performance-tuned adaptive dampers and 15.6-inch Brembo front brakes coupled with eye-catching six-piston yellow callipers.
