The all new Mazda MX-5 made its European debut at the ongoing Paris Motor Show. First unveiled last month at Mazda Space, Mazda's new European event hub in Barcelona, Spain, the fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 is expected to give another boost to the Japanese brand, and appears at a time when the Japanese automaker is posting sustained growth both in terms of unit sales and profits.
The model on display in Paris features SkyActiv technology, including a SkyActiv-G 1.5-litre petrol engine and six-speed SkyActiv-MT manual gearbox in the roadster's classic front-mid engine, rear-wheel drive layout - which provides a near perfect 50:50 front to rear weight distribution.
Mazda's designers came up with a mesmerising yet sporty 'KODO - Soul of Motion' design for the exterior, with a lower centre of gravity and longer bonnet along with character lines expressing vitality and motion.
Inside, the new model retains a cabin that is snug yet comfortable - a quality inherent to all MX-5s over the years. Mazda has also added state-of-the art technology like i-ActivSense active safety technology and MZD Connect, the company's in-car connectivity concept.
Almost 950,000 Mazda MX-5s have been produced over the past quarter century, making it the best-selling two-seater sports car of all time.
