Mazda Motor Europe has unveiled the all-new CX-5 mild hybrid crossover SUV, which will be equipped with a 2.5-litre engine and offer a seating capacity of five.
The development concept for the new CX-5, now in its third generation, is "New Generation Emotional Daily Comfort" to make it even more loved by customers. By improving the interior space and usability, ride comfort, and quietness, the new CX-5 supports a comfortable drive in a variety of situations.
While still retaining Mazda's KODO Soul of Motion design philosophy, the latest CX-5 takes a step up in terms of size over its predecessor. Its length has been increased by more than 100mm - to stand at 4,690mm now. At 1,860mm wide and 1,695mm tall, the SUV is also wider and taller than before.
In tandem, Mazda states that the new CX-5 will offer more space over the current car, with enlarged door openings for easier entry and exit, and as well as a deeper boot with a taller tailgate opening that will make loading and unloading items more fuss-free.
Practicality aside, however, the new CX-5 seems to herald a subtle design evolution for the firm, with its signature L-shaped daytime running light elements now stacked on top of each other. The car also dispenses with the brand's badge on its tailgate, opting instead for 'MAZDA' lettering in full. The approach is mirrored on the steering wheel, on which the 'MAZDA' lettering is emblazoned across.
Speaking of the interior, the CX-5 debuts an all-new Human Machine Interface boasting enhanced connectivity with newly-added apps, and an evolved suite of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). Mazda has stated that it believes these qualities will help expand the driving experience for its customers to one that is befitting of the modern automotive era.
While official numbers haven't been revealed yet, it's worth pointing out that the CX-5 will get one of the most heavily-digitalised dashboards we've seen from a Mazda yet, with a large central touchscreen incorporating most functions (including the climate control).
The all-new CX-5 will arrive in European showrooms at the end of 2025 and in other markets during 2026. Mazda states that the car has been its bestselling model since 2018, with cumulative global sales exceeding 4.5 million units across the first two generations.
