On 13 March 2025, Toyota Motor Corporation announced the commencement of sales of its all-new Crown Estate model in Japan.
Following the launch of the Crossover, Sport, and Sedan, the Estate is the fourth model in the Crown series. Toyota has stated that the new model is a vehicle that embodies both the dignity and functionality of the Crown in what Toyota calls a Mature Active Cabin. Its powertrain lineup includes hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models to cater to a wider range of customers.
The Estate sports an elegant cabin made possible by the GA-K platform. Measurement-wise, it is 4,930mm long, 1,880mm wide, and 1,625mm tall. Its exterior design features sharp shoulder lines running from its front to its rear, achieving a design that connects with the character lines on the front hood, as well as 21-inch tyres on aluminium wheels. Its front fascia has a bumper-integrated front grille, with the mesh pattern changing from top to bottom.
Inside, the Crown series incorporates island architecture (in which functions like displays and shifts are arranged together like an island) across all models. The design features a horizontal arrangement of meter displays to minimise eye movement. For its Saddle Tan and Grayish Blue trim, vintage-style cloud patterns are applied to the respective areas.
The Estate also offers 570 litres of boot space, which goes up to 1,470 litres with the seats retracted. Furthermore, it has an all-new luggage space extension board mechanism that creates a completely flat space of two metres in length when the rear seats are folded - a first for Toyota vehicles. Adding on, its luggage area also incorporates features such as a pull-out deck chair and table to enhance the experience of the full-flat deck.
A total of five monotone body colours and five bi-tone body colours are available to create a lineup that is suitable for a wide range of lifestyles. The PHEV model also features an exclusive Precious Metal x Massive Gray bi-tone body colour. Inside, three colours are offered: Black, Saddle Tan, and Grayish Blue (a PHEV-exclusive theme).
The Estate is equipped with a 2.5-litre HEV system (Estate Z), with the front motor's output increased by approximately 50% as compared to the Crossover and Sport models. For the 2.5-litre PHEV system (Estate RS), it has a high-output density drive motor and - like the Sport - a large-capacity lithium-ion battery located under the floor, allowing it to offer a BEV-mode driving range of 89km.
The all-new Toyota Crown Estate will be manufactured at the brand's Tsutsumi Plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
