Aston Martin DB12 Volante launched in Singapore

If the power, gorgeous styling and sumptuous luxury of the DB12 aren't enough to tantalise a driver on their own, Aston Martin Singapore thinks it has a slight alternative that might do the trick instead: The DB12 Volante.
The open-top variant of what has been dubbed the world's first Super Tourer (an interplay of 'supercar' and 'grand tourer') was officially launched in Singapore on the morning of 20 April 2024, at a special event held at Sofitel Sentosa.
Aston Martin states that the DB12 Volante manages to retain the beautiful silhouette and sleek styling of its coupe-twin - whether or not the roof is up
As the topless twin of the DB12, the DB12 Volante promises to carry on all of the coupe's strengths while adding in the unique thrill of open-top driving. At the same time, Aston Martin states that the car's sleek and athletic form is maintained whether or not the roof is up.
Speaking of this, the heart of the new action is the DB12 Volante's electrically-operated 'K-fold' roof - named as such because of its two-stage folding procedure. Opening it takes just 14 seconds, while putting it back up stretches the wait out slightly to 16 seconds - both at speeds of up to 50km/h.
With the roof up, Aston Martin claims that you'll be well cocooned acoustically from the world outside, thanks to the fabric canopy featuring eight layers of insulation. Put it back down, however, and you'll find it boasts an impressively compact stack height of just 260mm to maximise luggage capacity.
The car's K-fold roof doesn't eat too much into rear boot space, thanks to its impressive 260mm stack height when retracted, while allowing the driver a more visceral experience of the twin-turbo V8
Putting the roof down will also bring occupants closer to the DB12 Volante's bi-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 engine, which has been carried over unaltered from the DB12, and puts out a tremendous 671bhp and 800Nm of torque. (Again, these are significantly higher numbers than what the DB11's V12 could manage.)
Mated to a ZF eight-speed transmission, the DB12 Volante will smash the century sprint in just 3.7s - although the extra weight of its roof does mean it is one-tenth of a second slower to the mark than its twin. Still, Aston Martin states that the car was conceived from the beginning alongside the DB12, and thus promises the same level of driver engagement on the move.
Behind the wheel is also where drivers (and their occupants) will get to enjoy the same gorgeous cabin first seen on the DB12.
The DB12 Volante treats its occupants to a 390W 11-speaker Bowers & Wilkin surround sound system as standard
Carrying on with what its coupe-twin introduced, the DB12 Volante features Aston Martin's next-generation infotainment and HMI systems, consisting of a fully digital driver's display and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen. Another highlight of the DB12 Volante is its Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system - which features a 390W 11-speaker setup as standard.
The DB12 and DB12 Volante are both available now for design and build-to-order in Singapore. Prices for the latter start at $1,368,000, before COE and options.
