After raising the stakes in the supercar ladder with its 656bhp Vantage and the 671bhp DB12, Aston Martin has now unveiled a new 824bhp Vanquish.
1,000Nm of torque is offered from the Vanquish's new, twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12, allowing the car to sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in 3.3 seconds, and onto a top speed of 345km/h. For those in the know, this is Aston Martin's most powerful and fastest series production car yet, after you discount the limited-run models such as the Victor.
The Aston Martin Vanquish gets a 13% larger front grille than the DBS 770 Ultimate to keep its V12 cool
This power is transferred solely to the rear wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox paired with an electronic rear limited slip differential, which is said to be able to transition from a fully open position to 100% locked in 135ms.
Helping to rein all this power in is a bonded aluminium body structure that is coupled to a double wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. Aston Martin states that this chassis offers a 75% increase in lateral stiffness over its last flagship, the DBS 770 Ultimate.
The Aston Martin Vanquish also gets an 80mm increased wheelbase, while a stiffer engine cross brace improves the mounting stiffness of the car's Bilstein DTX dampers, which come with a model-specific calibration.
Two Aston Martin-developed 10.25-inch screens feature in the car's cabin, with the infotainment Pure Black touchscreen offering full capacitive single and multi-finger gesture control
Stopping power, meanwhile, comes courtesy of a carbon brake system as standard that comprises of 410mm discs at the front (held by six-piston alloy callipers), alongside 360mm discs at the rear (which are held by four-piston callipers).
All this comes wrapped within sheet metal that adopts a familiar teardrop form. Design highlights on the Vanquish include the sculpted bonnet complete with louvres that help cool its V12 engine, a distinctive side strake complete with a red 'V12' motif, and the distinctive Kamm Tail which serves to reduce speed-sapping drag.
A fully digital 10.25-inch TFT driver display paired with a 10.25-inch Pure Black touchscreen system features in the cabin. Entirely bespoke and developed in-house from scratch, the system comes with a mobile phone app which supports Apple iOS and Android devices. A Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker double amplified surround sound system tuned specifically for the Vanquish also features here.
Aston Martin has opened orders for the Vanquish, and first deliveries are expected to start in late 2024.
