Aston Martin just unveiled a new Vantage GT4.
The competitive edge of the GT4 has been increased thanks to a host chassis, aerodynamic, drivetrain and efficiency improvements. Like all of the other production-based Aston Martin GT race cars since the DBR9, the Vantage GT4 was designed, engineered and built by Aston Martin Racing.
A new front splitter and rear wing allow this new Vantage GT4 to deliver more aerodynamic downforce while producing less drag than its previous iteration
Due to strict racing regulations the GT4 shares an estimated 80% of the structural and mechanical architecture of the road-going Vantage. The body of the Vantage GT4 is also shared with the road-going car, save for its bonnet, which is instead made from a sustainable natural flax fibre composite reinforced by a cork core material. This bonnet also sports new air outlets, which, together with a larger front splitter and the addition of a new rear wing, mean this Vantage GT4 delivers more aerodynamic downforce while producing less drag than the previous GT4.
The GT4 comes powered by the road-going Vantage's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, although the race car does come with an upgraded electronic control system.
The handling performance of the Vantage GT4 is said to have been fine-tuned following extensive driver feedback and Aston Martin promises heightened precision and control through from this new car, while offering the driver-friendly traits and exploitability which is loved by its driver-base.
In the cabin, the GT4 has a Bosch DDU 11 display, instead of the road car's instrument cluster.
The Aston Martin Vantage GT4 will join the new Vantage GT3 to complete Aston Martin's formidable GT racing effort for the 2024 season.
