Audi, one of the many luxury marque’s under the Volkswagen corporate umbrella is looking to take the podium for the world's largest maker of premium cars by 2020 from rivals BMW. The report comes from CEO of Audi, Rupert Stadler in an interview to a German newspaper.Stadler previously set a goal of 2015 to make Audi the world's top premium carmaker and reports the first half of the year the company would present positive numbers. Audi is scheduled to release the mid-year results at the end of the month. He also mentioned Stadler said reduced working hours were not considered at the company's plants for the time being.
Earlier this week, Daimler AG said sales of Mercedes-Benz luxury cars grew in June, though at the slowest monthly rate so far this year, despite sales in the key market of China continued to increase at a lukewarm rate.
"By 2020 at the latest. It is not about overtaking BMW tomorrow or the day after, but to seize and secure the top position, but we feel that the road is getting bumpier," reports Stadler when he was asked regarding Audi becoming No. 1
