Audi displays Dragon inspired Q3 concept

According to the Chinese Zodiac sign, 2012 is the year of the dragon, and various automakers have tapped on this to create special editions with a dragon theme. Audi has jumped on this with a concept Audi Q3 that is showcased in Beijing during Auto China 2012. Meet the Q3 Jinlong Yufeng (Q3 JY). It means "Golden Dragon in the Wind" and true to its name is based on the sport of kitesurfing.On the roof of the Q3 JY you will find two kiteboards made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The designers have also developed a multipurpose flat outdoor pouch that could provide protection from dirt, store your wet beach belongings, use it as a sun shield or a seat cover. The kites itself can be stowed in a specially designed kite pouch, with two compact rugged sport cameras stored in the left wall of the boot.
The Q3 JY is an off-road vehicle for young, sports enthusiasts. Finished in Liuli Yellow, the car vibes full of life and high energy. The body add-ons, are painted in matt quartz giving off a natural rough look. Vertical aluminum struts in the grille form a wave shape with a matching two-tone colour scheme. Certain areas inside the headlights are tinted in anthracite, with aluminum panels partially covering air intakes and protecting the car’s underbody. Flared wheel arches and brushed stainless steel running boards featured on this Q3 JY will soon be added to the Q3 accessories program. The front cross-bar integrates small LED spotlights and twin flush tailpipes are integrated in the diffuser.The colour theme of Black, Grey and Yellow dominate the interior. The roofliner consists of titanium gray alcantara with many interior surfaces finished in black. Aluminum is also used in the instrument cluster providing a sculpted look. The Q3 JY is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, producing 310hp mated to a seven-speed S tronic. Audi’s award winning Quattro permanent all-wheel drive is also present to sprint this yellow dragon to 100km/h in a brisk 5.5 seconds topping off at 250 km/h.
