Audi launches new Q8 e-tron edition Dakar

Audi has released a special Q8 e-tron inspired by the Dakar Rally.
Taking cues from the RS Q e-tron, 99 examples of the Audi Q8 e-tron edition Dakar will come in Mythos Black metallic alongside a special decal package. These 99 examples will also sport their serial numbers in frosted lettering on their D-pillars.
The Audi Q8 e-tron edition Dakar comes with a set of General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres which give the car an additional 31mm of ground clearance and additional grip over difficult terrain
Regular examples of the special edition car will also be offered. These come without the decal package, and are available in Siam Beige metallic, Mythos Black metallic, and Magnetic Grey exterior colours.
A more prominent change for the Audi Q8 e-tron edition Dakar, however, is the fact that it will be offered with two sets of tyres. The first are a set of 20-inch summer tyres, while the second are General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, which will offer enhanced grip on difficult terrain and also come with a self-cleaning feature when driving over muddy terrain.
The car's MMI system is also able to display the car's tilt angle
The new tyres give the Audi Q8 e-tron edition Dakar a 31mm increase in total ground clearance compared to the regular Audi Q8 e-tron, and pair with the car's widened wheel arch trims to give the car a more confident stance on the road.
To aid driver visibility when tackling the dunes, the Audi Q8 e-tron edition Dakar comes equipped with tinted sun visors for the tailgate, rear door, and side windows, and when the sun sets, the standard Matrix LED head lights and taillights are sure to come in handy.
The car's MMI system also is able to display its tilt angle in this special edition, and also comes complete with its own theme, allowing the central screen to display three scenes, including a desert thunderstorm, tyre tracks, as well as a dune landscape.
The special edition car comes with a 106kWh battery that drives two electric motors, allowing it to deliver a peak output of 402bhp in boost mode alongside a peak torque of 664Nm. This power will allow the car to complete the century sprint in 5.8 seconds when equipped with the standard summer tyres.
