The Audi Q4 e-tron has been updated so it not only offers more power but is also more efficient than before.
To start, the update sees all examples of the all-electric crossover now utilising a 77kWh (82kWh gross) battery. Audi states that the chemistry of this battery has been optimised so charging for all-wheel drive examples of the Q4 e-tron now can charge at 175kW (which will see a 10% to 80% capacity charge taking just 28 minutes), while rear-wheel drive examples of the crossover will charge at a maximum of 135kWh.
All variants of the Audi Q4 e-tron also now get a completely redeveloped permanently excited synchronous electric motor at the rear axle. This new motor, Audi states, has given the crossover increased range and power delivery.
The Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron 45 now delivers a WLTP range of 562km, while both the e-tron 45 and e-tron Sportback 45 will come with a total of 282bhp. The Audi Q4 e-tron 55 quattro and Audi Q4 Sportback 55 e-tron quattro models, meanwhile, now offer a total of 335bhp. This power will see the top-of-the-range models completing the century sprint in 5.4 seconds. Top speed for all models in now 180km/h.
For comparison, the Audi Q4 e-tron at launch in April 2021 was available as a Q4 35 e-tron and a Q4 40 e-tron that developed an output of 168bhp and 201bhp respectively. The model was also offered as a 50 e-tron which delivered a total output of 295bhp. Audi also states that the suspension of the Q4 e-tron has been calibrated to offer improved steering response and tighter load control.
In the cabin, the car now comes with the firm's 10.25-inch Audi virtual cockpit as standard. Also now standard here is an automatic tailgate that can also be opened via foot gestures if the optional convenience key is selected.
The Audi Q4 e-tron can also now be had with two exterior speakers at the rear and two interior speakers in the rear doors that will play a digitally generated driving sound which varies according to the load and speed of the car. The sound played by the Audi Q4 e-tron is said to not only be different from those of other manufacturers, but is also said to be distinguishable from those of other all-electric Audi models.
