Audi takes top premium brand spot in the U.K.

Audi U.K. has ended 2023 as the U.K.'s number one premium car brand for the third consecutive year.

The firm sold a total of 137,489 vehicles, placing it as the third brand overall for new car sales in the county, and amounting to a market share of 7.22%, the latter being a record figure for Audi U.K.

The firm states that growing interest in battery-electric vehicles accounted for this sales success. While battery-electric vehicle registrations rose 17.8% in the country, Audi U.K. saw its battery electric vehicle sales amounting to 24,733 vehicles, an 85% increase compared to 2022. The Audi Q4-e-tron also rose to become the U.K.'s third most popular battery electric vehicle in 2023. Audi U.K. states that its plug-in hybrid registrations, totalling 11,431 vehicles, also rose by 99% compared to 2022.

SUVs also remained the backbone of Audi U.K.'s model portfolio with the Q2 and Q3 model ranges taking fourth and fifth places respectively in the firm's best-sellers list.
