Audi is demonstrating its automaking capabilities at the Geneva Motor Show with a showcase of seven new models, including the RS3 Sportback, Q7 e-tron quattro and the new R8 in four variants.
The R8 is built using a proven recipe - lightweight construction, a mid-mounted engine and a newly-developed quattro all-wheel drive system. The top-of-range V10 Plus variant will come with 610bhp on tap, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds and onto a top speed of 330km/h.
The new R8 also forms the basis for more models, including the electrically-powered R8 e-tron supercar that churns out 340kW and 920Nm of torque. Thanks to new battery cells, the R8 e-tron's driving range can be more than doubled compared to its first version - 450km on one full charge.
The new Audi R8 LMS race car was developed based on the new GT3 regulations due to come into effect worldwide from 2016. This year it will already be put through its paces at the factory. Despite massive performance increases, around 50 percent of its components are the same as the series-production car.
The Q7 e-tron quattro markes the arrival of the first plug-in hybrid in the Q model series, and the second model in Audi's lineup to feature the plug-in hybrid technology. More notably, the large SUV is the world's first plug-in hybrid car with a six-cylinder diesel engine and permanent all-wheel drive.

On the other hand, the RS3 Sportback takes the stage as the most powerful premium compact car. The 2.5-litre TFSI engine generates up to 367bhp, accelerating the hatchback from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds. At the same time, the engine's brand-typical throaty five-cylinder sound reminds us of the very first quattro.
A seven-speed S tronic, which shifts even faster than in the previous model, directs the power of the 2.5 TFSI to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
Also at the motor show is the Audi prologue Avant - a car that provides a new interpretation of the Avant philosophy by combining dynamics, form and function in a perfect synthesis. The five-door car with its pioneering body concept positions itself in the luxury class. At the same time, it offers unmistakable sportiness and variability. On the inside, the driver and up to three passengers can enjoy a luxurious cabin and are digitally connected thanks to a state-of-the-art infotainment architecture and connect technology.
The Audi prologue Avant uses technology is equipped with the plug-in hybrid drive from the Audi Q7 e-tron quattro, with 455bhp of system power output by the 3.0-litre TDI engine and the electric motor in combination make the car sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
