Bentley celebrates 40 years of turbocharging at Goodwood

Bentley has celebrated four decades of handcrafting turbocharged grand tourers with a 10-car parade at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The firm revealed its first-ever turbocharged model 40 years ago, at the Geneva Motor Show - the Mulsanne Turbo. This four-door sedan is said to have marked a turning point in the company's fortunes and redefined its performance credentials.

In the forty years since the first turbocharged Bentley, the immense reserves of power and effortless torque that characterise Bentley engines have become inseparably associated with turbocharging. The firm's modern W12, V8 and V6 engines all now benefit from turbocharging.

And to mark the occasion, a 10-car parade, comprising of a Turbo R, Arnage Red Label, Continental R Mulliner Final Series, Brooklands, Mulsanne, Continental Supersports, Continental GT V8 S, Continental GTC S, Flying Spur S and a Continental GT Mulliner took to the festival.

Bentley Motors will additionally be showing seven turbocharged Bentley models from its Heritage Collection at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, alongside key models from the current range including the 650bhp Continental GT Mulliner and three of the latest 'S' models featuring the 542bhp 4.0-litre V8.
