Bentley launches the Continental Supersports Convertible
18 Feb 2010|2,457 views
The Continental Supersports Convertible is the fastest and most powerful Bentley convertible ever, and is also the fastest four-seater convertible in the world, as the drop-top features the same twin-turbocharged W12 engine found on the Continental Supersports Coupe. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds, 0-160km/h in 9.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of 325km/h
The engine produces 630bhp and 800Nm of torque, but more amazingly, it is capable of running on petrol as well as environmentally-friendly E85 ethanol, or a combination of the two fuels. Power is channelled to all four wheels through a strengthened ZF 6HP26 transmission with a 'Quickshift' system that is said to reduce shift times by 50% while also enabling double downshifts.
Like the coupe, the Continental Supersports Convertible also features revised suspension, steering and ESP settings, a 40/60 rear-biased torque split for the all-wheel drive system, carbon-ceramic brakes, slightly blistered rear wheel arches to accommodate the wider tracks and 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels shod in 275/35 ZR20 Pirelli Ultra High Performance tyres. The interior has been upgraded with carbon fibre front sports seats, special materials and trim options.
