The 328 Hommage Concept features a distinctive diagonal carbon fibre weave, and the car is constructed mostly out of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), which BMW says is lighter but also more stable than aluminium. The result is that the 328 Hommage Concept’s gross weight is just 780kg.
The concept also features design elements that hark back to the retro era, such as the vertically positioned double kidney grille, the leather straps across the bonnet, the design of the wheels, and the double windscreen with a recess in the middle. The doors were also removed to replicate the styling of the original 328.
The interior though, has a modern and minimalist look, with use of materials such as carbon fibre, leather and aluminium. BMW did not disclose any details about the 328 Hommage Concept’s powerplant, only revealing that it is a 3.0-litre straight-six engine. The car will be on display at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este near Lake Como, Italy this weekend.

The 328 Hommage Concept is based on the BMW Vision Connected Drive concept car that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, and BMW says that the car is a modern interpretation of the classic 328 sports car from the 1930s.
