BMW has unveiled a whole host of updates for its 7-Series luxury saloon, to be introduced next year.
Among the changes would be a brand new twin turbo diesel engine, the recently announced M-Sports Package, and xDrive.
The new engine will be fitted to the 740d. The block will be a straight six diesel to be crafted from aluminium, and features BMW's TwinPower Turbo Technology. It will produce 306bhp and 600Nm of torque, and will propel the car from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds, up to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. BMW quotes a fuel consumption figure of 6.9 litres per 100km. This makes it a choice of three petrol engines and two diesel engines available for the 7-Series model range.
BMW will also make their xDrive all-wheel-drive system available for the 7-Series. The system is an electronically controlled system that will spread out 407 horsepower across each wheel at appropriate points. Front-to-rear power will be split at 40:60, but in turns the xDrive sends as much as 80% of available power to the rear axle. It will be available only on the V8-powered 750i and 750iL models.
Finally, the M-Sports package to be introduced to the 7-Series will include features like BMW Dynamic Drive, leather sports seats, an M-badged multi-function leather steering wheel, and anthracite roof liner. Double-spoke, light alloy, 19-inch M wheels, with the option to upgrade to 20-inchers, will also be offered. Customers will also be able to choose a new Carbon Black Metallic exterior paint, on top of the already-offered six other paint options.
