BMW Group and Toyota signs research collaboration agreement

BMW Group and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) have released a joint statement to affirm their collaboration in eco-friendly technologies research and development. The project will focus on enhancement of lithium-ion battery technologies, for the next generation of 'green' cars.
In addition, Toyota Motor Europe (European subsidiary of TMC) has signed a contract to acquire 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesel engines from BMW Group. The engines will be fitted to new models scheduled to join the European line-up. The company plans to offer more fuel efficient and low-emission diesel-powered vehicles as part of their expansion plan in Europe.
