BMW Asia has launched two new models for those looking for more excitement from their daily drives.
Launched alongside the new BMW iX1 at the 2024 Singapore Motor Show is the new BMW X1 M35 xDrive. The new sporty Sports Activity Vehicle pairs the exciting body of the X1 with a 296bhp 2.0-litre motor allowing it to hit 100km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
The BMW X1 M35i gets a kidney grille complete with vertical double bars and a model-specific roof spoiler, both signalling its sporty nature
On the outside, the X1 M35i differentiates itself from the X1 sDrive16 with its M Performance Aerodynamics package, which adds M high-gloss exterior trim elements, alongside its M light alloy wheels (measuring in at 20 inches in diameter).
The car also comes with enlarged air intakes on its front apron, to ensure that its engine, transmission, and brakes all continues to operate at an optimum temperature, even under hard driving. Also added to the X1 M35i are prominent side skirt extensions, and a model-specific roof spoiler and a rear apron, all making clear you're in the performance variant of the X1.
Powering the BMW X1 M35i is a 2.0-litre engine that is said to get a new oil supply system as well as the bearing shells and caps from the firm's latest generation of six-cylinder engines. The turbocharging system of this engine has also been upgraded, allowing it to deliver its maximum output of 296bhp alongside a peak torque of 400Nm, the latter of which is on tap from 2,000rpm to 4,500rpm.
Those shopping for something faster still can also now opt to get the BMW i5 M60 xDrive here in Singapore.
The all-electric performance sedan makes its performance known on its exterior with the use of a BMW kidney grille with added contour line lighting as well as its large air intakes, sides skirts and exterior mirror caps (both finished in high-gloss black), and 21-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels. At the rear, the use of both a rear apron complete with a pronounced diffuser and an M rear spoiler lip also signal the car's high performance.
The BMW i5 M60 xDrive is also offered here with the M Sport Package Pro as standard, which adds an illuminated strip around that black grille, while finishing the rear spoiler in black, amongst other touches. Behind those 21-inch wheels, meanwhile, sit red-painted brake callipers.
If these are not enough, customers here will also be able to specify their i5 M60 xDrive with the M Carbon exterior package, which finishes the sedan with a carbon fibre rear spoiler and exterior mirror caps.
Backing all these visual upgrades in the sedan are two electric motors, which give the vehicle a total power output of 510bhp, although this output can be raised further to a peak of 593bhp if the vehicle is put into its 'Sport' driving mode.
Peak torque generated by this two-motor setup total at 795Nm, although this again raises to a total of 820Nm when M Sport Boost or the car's launch control function is activated. These figures mean the electric sedan will race to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Facilitating all this power is an 81.2kWh battery that gives the BMW i5 M60 xDrive a WLTP range of 516 km.
The BMW i5 M60 xDrive is now available for viewing at all authorised BMW dealers in Singapore.
