The facelifted BMW 5 Series is now available in Singapore, just four months after its international announcement in May.
The seventh generation 5 Series sports improvements on both the exterior and interior, along with the introduction of electrified powertrains across all variants available here.
The exterior design changes include a new kidney grille framed in a single piece surround, along with slimmer full-LED headlights with L-shaped daytime running lights as standard.
As standard, the new headlights also feature BMW Selective Beam LED matrix technology. BMW Laserlight will remain as an option on the 5 Series.
The tail lights have also been redesigned with black edging and a new L-shaped graphic, along with a three-dimensional external lens.
The M Sport package will also be offered, bringing a significantly more muscular design to both the front and rear of the car thanks to new, dynamically proportioned aerodynamic features. In addition, a new M Sport Edition version of the new BMW 5 Series will be available from launch in a worldwide production run of 1,000 units while limited units will make its way to Singapore.
It includes the M Sport package, model-specific Air Performance Wheels, a Donington Grey metallic paint finish and new M multifunction seats - previously reserved for the BMW M5 - with integral head restraints and optimised side and shoulder support.
The 5 Series receives updates on the inside, too. A 10.25-inch infotainment display (standard in the 520i and 530e) or a 12.3-inch Control Display (standard in the 520i Luxury Line, 530i M Sport and M Sport Edition) will be available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity will come as standard.
Both the BMW Live Cockpit Plus (standard on the new BMW 520i) and the BMW Live Cockpit Professional (standard on all other variants) bring the new BMW Operating System 7.0 to the 5 Series, together with a host of extra digital services. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with extended functionality is also now available as a standard feature across all variants.
The BMW Digital Key for the iPhone will enable customers to just tap to unlock and easily get going by placing the iPhone in the smartphone tray and pushing the start button.
Driver assistance features are also available. The Lane Departure Warning system included with the standard Driving Assistant now also features lane return by means of steering assistance. The updated Steering and Lane Control Assistant included as part of the optional Driving Assistant Professional package also brings Active Navigation.
The 5 Series also receives electrified powertrains across all variants. A 48V mild-hybrid system offers an additional 10bhp boost under acceleration, and also increases efficiency by assisting the engine when driving at constant speeds.
At launch, The new BMW 5 Series comes with a choice of two 2.0-litre turbocharged mild-hybrid engines with power outputs ranging from 178bhp in the 520i, to 244bhp in the 530i. Both engines will be mated to a eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
There is a choice of sophisticated chassis systems designed to effectively enhance either agility and dynamism or driving comfort. M Sport suspension, Adaptive M suspension, and Adaptive M suspension Professional including active roll stabilisation are available as options in the 5 Series.
The latest version of the optional Integral Active Steering can come to the driver's aid when manoeuvring by turning the rear wheels as required even at speeds under 3km/h. Red calipers are now available as an alternative to the blue units as a visual differentiator for the M Sport brakes.
The new BMW 5 Series is now available for viewing at the Performance Motors Limited showroom. Prices will be announced at a later date.
