BMW Plant Leipzig has announced that it has produced its 3,333,333rd customer car since manufacturing begun in 2005.
The milestone car was a BMW 128ti, finished in Melbourne Red metallic and complete with black accents. Equipped with a 261bhp 2.0-litre engine, BMW M tuned suspension and a Torsen limited-slip differential, the 128ti offers customers a handling-oriented alternative that sits below the BMW M135i.
BMW Plant Leipzig currently manufactures the BMW 1 Series, 2 Series Gran Coupe, as wellas the 2 Series Active Tourer This red 128ti is joining Plant Leipzig's many milestone cars that include a BMW 116d in Alpine White, Leipzig's one-millionth car.
A BMW i3, finished in Protonic Blue, meanwhile, marked the plant's two millionth vehicle, and in 2021, a BMW M240i Convertible in Sunset Orange (Catch our review of the BMW 240i Coupe here) marked the plant's three millionth car to roll of the production line.
The plant's four millionth car, however, could well be either a BMW or a MINI, as the plant is taking on manufacturing of the MINI Countryman this year, making the site the first in the BMW Group to build both BMWs and MINIs.
The MINI Countryman will be built alongside its UKL platform brethren, the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer all on a single production line.
