BMW Vision ConnectedDrive showcases the future in BMW technology

Among the technological features on the Vision ConnectedDrive include a head-up display that shows driver information in 3-D in the driver's line of sight. BMW says that, "The display allows the real view to be overlaid with virtual information, highlighting hazards allowing the driver to assimilate all of the information quickly and take appropriate action."

The passenger also has an information display system, which allows the passenger to retrieve and evaluate information from the navigation system, and forward them to the driver's instrument panel, enhancing interaction between the driver and the passenger.

The Vision ConnectedDrive also features antennas in the place of the wing mirrors that transmit information to the outside world and capture navigation data, and also assist in monitoring traffic situation and the environment around the car.

The BMW Vision ConnectedDrive was designed by BMW's head of design, Adrian von Hooydonk, and the car's design, which features elements such as its gaping grille, big air intakes, frameless windscreen, and Z1-style electro-mechanical retracting doors, could provide an indication as to the future look of BMW sports cars. The bonnet of the Vision ConnectedDrive concept features a transparent area which symbolizes the "driver's focus on the road ahead and on the concentration of information that is flowing in the opposite direction, towards him."
