Cadillac reveals the CTS Coupe
26 Nov 2009|3,149 views
The production CTS Coupe looks virtually identical to the concept, which was first shown at the 2008 Detroit Motor Show, and features bold styling, aggressive lines, and Cadillac's trademark "art and science" design. Styling details include the "touch-pad" door handles, a sleek windshield and the lack of B-pillars. A centrally-mounted dihedral exhaust system and a spoiler cum brake light are other touches.
The CTS Coupe is based on the CTS sedan, and shares the same underpinnings, like the 3.6-litre V6 engine that produces 304bhp, and is available in either rear or four-wheel-drive. Power is transmitted through either a 6-speed manual gearbox, or an optional automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control that has steering-mounted shift controls. The wheelbase is also identical, although the length and height has been reduced by 51mm each, but the CTS Coupe is still capable of 2+2 seating.
Cadillac has also announced that they will launch a CTS-V Coupe performance version, which will feature a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 powerplant that produces 556bhp and is able to go from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The CTS Coupe is expected to be well-equipped, with features such as a pop-up navigation system, rear camera and Bluetooth connectivity available as standard, while options include 14-way adjustable Recaro sport seats and a Bose 5.1 surround sound system.
