Nissan Fairlady Z celebrates Singapore debut

Nissan's Z-car has finally returned to Singapore in seventh-generation form - at least for the weekend at Level 6 of Suntec City Convention Centre, before it officially goes on sale in Singapore at a later date this year.
Celebrating its official Singapore debut at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show, the all-new Nissan Fairlady Z arrives more than a decade after we first drove its predecessor, the 370Z, on local roads. Shunning the sensible electrification of Nissan's e-POWER models, the two-door coupe deals instead in pure driver focus and of course, pure combustion power.
The Z-car enters its seventh generation with the latest Nissan Fairlady Z, which draws design inspiration from a number of its predecessors
While retaining the front-engine rear-wheel drive layout of its predecessors, it now draws power from a newly-developed 3.0-litre V6 engine that trades the natural aspiration of old for twin turbos.
Unsurprisingly, it's thus also the most powerful Z-car to date, boasting a peak output of 400bhp and 475Nm of torque.
Given that the Fairlady Z is still only out for preview, no technical details have been confirmed yet. Crucially, however, you may observe that the car tucked safely behind the barriers at the Show is equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission rather than a stick shifter (paddle shifters are on hand so you can swap cogs on your own). No word has been given yet on whether a manual Fairlady Z will eventually make the swim here.
The sports coupe has, however, been confirmed to feature modern Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies (read: driving assistance systems) that will help to “enhance driver confidence and control”. Additionally, worth reiterating is that the Fairlady Z's interior mixes in a light but delectable dose of retro cues, including three analogue gauge clusters slanted toward the driver atop of its dashboard.

Official local dealer Tan Chong Motor Sales seems understandably thrilled by the car's presence at the Show, describing it as "an enduring performance icon" and also "a name that has shaped global sports car culture for nearly six decades". Sgcarmart also understands from a brand representative that the car will likely retail with an estimated price of around $400,000 when it goes on sale (inclusive of COE), with a targeted launch date in the final quarter of 2026.
By a different token, the rest of the Nissan booth at Suntec City Convention Centre - ranging from the pint-sized Note e-POWER to the swooping all-electric Ariya - should appeal to visitors with their efficient powertrains and sensible interiors. But peer closer at one familiar face and you might notice something different.
Nissan is also celebrating the official launch of the Serena e-POWER Smart8 - a new eight-seater variant of its bestselling MPV
Also launching officially for the first time here at the Show is the Serena e-POWER Smart8 - a new eight-seater variant of Nissan's bestselling MPV that promises a bit more versatility than the seven-seater we've driven.
It's all in the name, really. The Smart8 differs slightly from your typical eight-seater MPVs because it doesn't have a fixed second row bench. Instead, it may be helpful to think of it as a '7+1'.
When only seven seats are required, the middle seat of the second row can fold downwards, slide forward, and tuck itself neatly in between the two front seats, functioning as an additional armrest replete with a storage cubby. In this configuration, you still get two standalone chairs in the second row.
The Smart8 variant has an interesting dual-purpose middle seat - it can also slide all the forward and tuck itself neatly in between the two front seats to function as an armrest for front occupants, freeing up space in the second row
When you need to ferry more, however, that 'centre console' can be raised again, pulled back, and re-transformed into a third seat. It's admittedly quite a slim module that doesn't look the part of a proper chair on its own - but everything does seem to click magically into place once the seat surfaces have been properly aligned.
The Nissan Fairlady Z and the new Nissan Serena e-POWER Smart8 can now be experienced together up close at Nissan's booth at the 2026 Singapore Motor Show, which is running from now till Sunday (11 January 2026).
