Caterham cars are based on Colin Chapman's original 1957 Lotus Seven design.
The Seven was a lightweight race car, which was adapted for the street. During the 1960's, Caterham Cars in the UK was the largest dealer for the Lotus Seven. So, when Chapman's Lotus decided to discontinue production of the Seven, Caterham Car's owner Graham Nearn bought the rights to continue producing the car.
Over the years, Caterham's have been sold assembled by the factory, or in do-it-yourself, kit form. Available powerplants have come from MG Rover, Vauxhall, and Ford.
The Roadsport 125 Monaco is built at the factory in Caterham Surrey England and it features a 125-hp 1.6 litre engine from Ford, backed by a 5 speed manual transmission.
Performance figures are a 180 km/h top speed, and a 0-60 time of "less than 6 seconds". Since most of these cars are bought for club racing. Those are excellent numbers.
The lightweight aluminium body features a black nose, with special red and white stripes to emulate the flag of Monaco. Inside, the 125 Monaco gets a unique red interior, meant to resemble the roulette wheels of Monaco's casinos.
If basic, fun motoring is your thing, then the Caterham Roadsport 125 Monaco comes up Black (or red, depending on your bet).
