Citroen C4 and C4 X get mild hybrid technology
21 Feb 2024|382 views
Citroen has introduced mild hybrid technology to its C4 and C4 X models.
The cars are now available with 48V mild hybrid technology, which comes paired to a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that gets a variable geometry turbocharger. Peak torque from this engine is 230Nm, which is developed from a low 1,750rpm. This mild hybrid system makes use of a 28bhp electric motor which is produced in France, as well as a new six-speed dual-clutch gearbox which was specially designed for use in an electrified drivetrain.
Citroen states that the new technology will improve the fuel economy of both the C4 and C4 X by 20% and even up to 30% in urban driving conditions compared to their 128bhp non-electrified 1.2-litre engine when paired to the eight-speed automatic gearbox.
