Maju station, one of six underground stations slated for Phase 2 of the Cross Island Line (CRL), will be designed and constructed by KTC Civil Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd.
In a press release published today, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said it has awarded a civil contract to the firm at a contract value of about S$480 million. KTC Civil Engineering & Construction is an established local company with extensive experience in infrastructure projects in Singapore.
The company previously constructed Tampines interchange station on the Downtown Line (DTL) and Orchard Boulevard station on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL). It is currently in the finishing stage of the construction of TEL Sungei Bedok station.
Construction works for the CRL Maju station are expected to start in the second quarter of 2024. LTA expects the commencement of passenger service for CRL Phase 2 in 2032.
CRL Maju station is located along Clementi Road, near existing infrastructure such as residential developments and educational institutions. When completed, commuters can look forward to time savings of 25 minutes and 30 minutes to and from the CRL Maju station, and Hougang Central and Jurong Lake District, respectively.
For safety and ground stability, earth retaining and stabilising structures will be implemented before excavation and construction works for station structures commence.
Traffic and utilities diversions will be carried out in phases to facilitate construction works. The authority said it will monitor the works closely, along with the contractor, to ensure that they are carried out safely. It will also ensure minimal impact to the nearby stakeholders and existing structures.
This is the fourth civil contract following those that were awarded for the CRL King Albert Park and Clementi interchange stations back in October 2023, and the CRL West Coast station in December last year.
