COE Results July 2025 2nd Bidding: Cat E reaches $120,000!

The second round of bidding for July saw Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums climbing for Cat E while premiums for Cat B took a slight hit. Premiums for Cat A stayed steady this session when compared to the last.

The host of BYD dealers here could have secured more Cat E COEs this session to meet expected demand for the newly launched Sealion 6. The total number of bids submitted this session for the category reached a total of 431, significantly more than the 384 bids submitted last session.

Cat A COE - Holding steady

Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp or electric vehicles with a power output of up to 110kW, held steady this session, staying at exactly $101,102 this session - the premium reached two weeks ago.

The current premium now stands at 4.9% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of number of bids submitted exceeded the number of successful bids this round by 50%, higher than the 12-month average of 51% for the category.

Cat B COE - Taking a small hit

Premiums for Cat B, for larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc or electric vehicles with a power output of more than 110kW, took a small hit this session. Premiums for the category slipped by $499 (0.4%) to reach $119,101.

This slip means the current premium for the category is now just 6.1% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 46%. This is lower than the 12-month average figure for the category of 48%.

Cat C COE - Climbing upwards

Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, climbed this session by $1,911 (2.9%) to close at $68,600. The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 49%, lower than the 12-month average for this category of 52%.

Cat E COE - Now at $120,000

Premiums for Cat E, the open category, climbed this session by $1,500 (1.4%) to reach $120,000.

The current premium for the category is now 6.6% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 104%, higher than the 12-month average figure for the category of 87%.

Prevailing Quota Premium

The Prevailing Quota Premium is the amount to be paid for COE renewal and is computed from the moving average of the previous three-months of COE prices. Those looking to renew the COE on their cars will thus have to pay the following prices for the respective months.
