The hugely successful seven-seater SUV Kia Sorento has been reinvented with a host of significant improvements, which include a completely new platform, enhanced powertrains including a new 2.2-litre diesel engine for best-in-class fuel economy with lower emissions, improved ride, handling and refinement, and additional convenience and safety features, plus a fresh, new look for the exterior.

Cycle & Carriage will be introducing the fine-tuned Theta II 2.4 GDI gasoline and R2.2 Euro V diesel engines in Singapore.
The revised 2.4-litre Theta II GDI engine is fitted with a new cylinder head and pistons, plus new fuel injection and intake systems. This all-aluminum DOHC four-cylinder powerplant generates 9 percent more power (192bhp) and 6.6 percent more torque (242Nm), while delivering better fuel economy and lower emissions at 200g/km. Mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, the SUV will accelerate to 100km/h in 10.2 seconds and attain a top speed of 190km/h.
For fitting in the upgraded Sorento, the 2.2-litre, 197bhp TCI (turbo charged inter-cooler) engine features a new exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system which cuts the production of nitrogen oxide and reduces CO2 emissions - down to 178g/km.
Maximum torque is 436Nm from just 1,800rpm. With this 2.2-litre engine, Sorento reaches 100km/h in 9.9 seconds (4WD) with the six-speed automatic transmission.
Every upgraded Sorento features a six-speed automatic transmission, with the petrol variant being a 2WD and the diesel variant a 4WD. The 2WD drivetrain offers a weight saving of approximately 60kg, enhancing fuel economy.
The 4WD drivetrain is an 'on demand' system that delivers 100 percent of engine torque to the front wheels during all routine city and highway driving. Whenever a front wheel loses grip, a up to 50 percent of torque is automatically transferred to the rear wheels. In severely slippery conditions, the driver can select 'Lock Mode' which delivers 50 percent of torque to both the front and rear axles.

Inside the seven-seater cabin, there are more soft-touch surfaces plus a new instrument cluster, new center stack with 7-inch TFT LCD display screen, and a new console featuring a straight-gate selector with a leather-booted lever, reinforcing the vehicle's more luxurious character.
