Cupra to add new entry-level variant to Tavascan lineup

Cupra has announced that it is expanding the Tavascan lineup with a fresh entry-level variant that doesn't just lower the power stakes, but also gets a smaller battery that should make Tavascan ownership even more accessible moving forward. The new variant arrives as part of a mid-life refresh for the brand's sole electric SUV to date.
While the Tavascan has thus far been powered by a 77kWh battery, the entry-level variant now gets a 58kWh item instead. This can still deliver a rated range of 435km on a full charge, while supporting DC charging that will see its state-of-charge go from 10-80% in around 28 minutes. Meanwhile, the new variant also gets a new electric motor that can put out a maximum of 140kW (188bhp).
With its mid-life introduction, however, the entry-level Tavascan does benefit from latest-generation interior upgrades that are slowly being rolled out across both the Tavascan lineup as well as the wider Cupra family.
The Tavascan's updated interior includes a new steering wheel with physical buttons, as well as a larger 10.25-inch 'Digital Cockpit'
As already seen on the updated Cupra Born, the updated Tavascan now gets a larger 10.25-inch 'Digital Cockpit' (Cupra-speak for instrument cluster), as well as a new steering wheel fitted with good old physical buttons.
Furthermore, the SUV now gets an Android-powered infotainment system, as well as new electric air vents that can be activated before the driver enters the cabin. Speaking of the interior, range-topping Tavascans will now get an enhanced 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system that newly integrates the brand's 'Sennheiser Contrabass' and 'Concerto' immersive technology.
As seen on other recent Volkswagen Group-products, the Tavascan even promises new levels of connectivity with a new 'Mobile Device Key' feature that allows drivers to unlock and start the vehicle simply with their mobile phones. Vehicle access can be shared across a total of four devices.
Also landing for the first time are one-pedal driving, vehicle-to-load functionality, and - for the two more powerful variants - Launch Control.
Cupra states that production for the updated Tavascan is set to begin in the coming weeks, with the first customer delivers set to commence in the third quarter of 2026.
Sgcarmart understands from Cupra Singapore that there are currently no plans for this variant to be offered locally.
