Boasting a strong personality, the new Citroen C5 Aircross stands apart through its singular, energetic and assertive attitude. Measuring 4.5m long, the new model stands out in the SUV segment with its flowing shapes punctuated with strong graphic touches such as the Airbump, large 720mm-diameter wheels, ground clearance of 230mm and distinctive roof bars.
More importantly, the C5 Aircross offers wide seats and backrests, inspired by the world of furniture design. The innovative design, combining high-density foam in the seat centre and 15mm-thick textured foam on the surface, ensures softness and support at all times.
The rear bench consists of three individual, sliding (up to 150mm), folding and inclining seats, which allow for a best-in-class boot volume of 580 litres to 720 litres, and a total of 1630 litres when folded down.
But more than just its premium cabin, the C5 Aircross also promises class-leading comfort for all on board thanks to its Progressive Hydraulic Cushions system.
This innovation filters and absorbs major and minor surface unevenness to give occupants the feeling of flying smoothly over the road while ensuring outstanding poise and vitality.
While conventional suspension systems comprise of a shock absorber, a spring and a mechanical stop, the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions system adds two hydraulic stops on either side, one for rebound and the other for compression.
In cases of major compression and rebound, they gradually slow down movement to avoid sudden jolts. In cases of slight compression and rebound, they absorb dips and bumps in the road to deliver a 'magic carpet' ride.
The car is also well equipped to keep its occupants safe, thanks to a suite of 11 latest generation driver assistance systems including Active Safety Brake, Driver Attention Alert, Active Lane departure warning and many more.
Powering the C5 Aircross is a powerful and efficient 1.6-litre PureTech engine, mated to the most recent version of Citroen's eight-speed automatic gearbox - the eight-speed 'Efficient Automatic Transmission' with Shift and Park by wire control, offering even more efficiency and comfort.
According to Citroen, the new transmission offers smoother gearshifts and a 7% improvement in fuel efficiency over the old six-speeder.
At the launch, Cycle & Carriage also unveiled its revamped Citroen showroom, which follows the concept of La Maison Citroen, an architectural expression of the concept presented on Citroen's stands at the latest motor shows. According to the company, La Maison Citroen perfectly embodies the Brand's 'Be Different, Feel Good' promise.
