EZ-Link card collection for eligible commuters from 18 Mar
29 Feb 2024|466 views
Adult commuters who had purchased a SimplyGo EZ-Link card between 9 and 22 January 2024 will soon be able to collect a new card that is compatible with the card-based ticketing (CBT) system.
From 18 March to 30 June 2024, these adult commuters may pick up their EZ-Link card for free at any of the 44 SimplyGo Ticket Offices islandwide. Commuters can check on their eligibility for a new CBT card with their 16-digit SimplyGo EZ-Link card identification number (CAN ID) on the back of the card.
They can do so via the SimplyGo website or SimplyGo hotline at 1800-2255-663.
Commuters who have purchased a NETS Prepaid Card between 9 and 22 January 2024 may also collect a free NETS FlashPay Card. The NETS FlashPay Card is also CBT-compatible.
CBT cards will allow commuters to see fare deductions and card balances on fare readers, unlike SimplyGo EZ-Link cards, which operate on an account-based ticketing system.
Last month, Minister for Transport Mr. Chee Hong Tat had announced that the older card-based ticketing (CBT) system for adult commuters will be in place until at least 2030.
Collection details for new CBT EZ-Link card
Eligible commuters will be scheduled to collect their new cards based on the last digit of their CAN ID. This will ensure a more organised collection process with shorter waiting times, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA).
Commuters must bring their current SimplyGo card for verification during card collection.
To facilitate card collection, the operating hours of all 44 SimplyGo Ticket Offices will be extended from 18 March to 26 May 2024. LTA encouraged commuters to "adhere to their allotted collection dates" as there is "sufficient stock of CBT EZ-Link cards".
LTA expects longer queues and wait times at the Ticket Offices during the morning and evening peak hours of 8:00am to 9:30am and 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Commuters who wish may consider visiting the Ticket Office during off-peak hours for a shorter wait time.
Even after collecting a new CBT EZ-Link card, commuters can continue to keep and use their existing SimplyGo EZ-Link card.
Collection details for new NETS FlashPay Card
From 1 April to 30 June 2024, eligible cardholders of the NETS Prepaid card can collect a free NETS FlashPay Card at any of the SimplyGo Ticket Offices.
Those unsure of their eligibility can similarly check the SimplyGo website or the NETS Customer Service Hotline at 6274 1212.
Commuters can continue to keep and use their existing NETS Prepaid Card. They will also have the option to request a refund on the remaining balance in the NETS Prepaid Card via the NETS App.
Concession cards
All Senior Citizen, Workfare Transport and Person with Disabilities Concession cardholders, and Adult Monthly Travel cardholders who were issued or converted their cards to SimplyGo on or before 22 January 2024 will receive a replacement CBT card.
These groups of commuters will have their card mailed to their address registered with TransitLink. This will make it easier for concession cardholders such as seniors and persons with disabilities to obtain a new card, said LTA.
Likewise, they can choose to either use the new CBT concession card or continue with their existing SimplyGo card.
LTA added that they will need to activate their new CBT concession card at any ticket office if they wish to use it. This is to ensure that each eligible concession cardholder has only one valid concession card.
Similar to the process for activating any new concession card, they must bring along their NRIC, existing and new concession cards. Customer Service Officers at the Ticket Offices will also help with the transfer of any remaining value to their new concession cards.
