Ferrari 458 Italia to enter Grand Am
22 Jul 2011|2,427 views

The 458 Italia Grand Am was developed together with Michelotto Automobili, and is based on the 458 Italia GT3 that contests in European GT3 races. However, the Grand Am version features less efficient aerodynamics as well as a detuned V8 that delivers 500bhp due to the different regulations in the American series.
Additionally, the 458 Italia Grand Am comes with a modified braking system, as the car has neither ABS nor traction control. Other changes include the strengthened roll-over bar to deal with the more frequent collisions in the American series, as well as Continental tyres, who are the sole tyre supplier to the series.
The 458 Italia Grand Am was unveiled at Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit in Italy, and put through its paces with drivers Maurizio Mediani and Jaime Melo at the wheel. The Italian sports car maker will enter the 458 Italia Grand Am in the North American Grand Am series, but no date has been given.
