Ferrari has revealed a new one-off, designed for what it states is one of its leading collectors.
Called the KC23, the latest car from Ferrari's one-off series has been designed as an extreme vision of what the future of closed wheel racing may look like.
Switch the V8 of the Ferrari KC23 on and its side intakes automatically open (pictured, right) to feed air into the engine and intercoolers
The KC23 is based on the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 platform and inherits its layout, chassis and engine. Ferrari states that the 488 GT3 is its most successful racing Ferrari in history, with more than 530 victories and having won more than 119 championships.
The Ferrari KC23, however, has been designed exclusively for non-competitive track use, given the extreme nature of its engine, chassis and suspension setup.
Supporting this extreme setup is a body that utilises clean, sleek, sinuous forms to deliver a monolithic beauty. But switch the V8 of the KC23 on, and its side air intakes automatically open, giving the car what Ferrari describes as an 'almost lifelike' look. A rear wing removable wing also helps to underline the clean, formal lines of the KC23 when it is not on the track.
From the flank, the KC23 gets butterfly doors that open vertically on single front hinges, an architectural shared with the LaFerrari. The car's glass surfaces are additionally seamlessly integrated with the bodywork, so there are no visible pillars, frames, or seals, creating an aeronautics-derived dome effect.
In the cabin, the Ferrari KC23 has retained the pared back design of the 488 GT3 Evo 2020. The KC23 does, however, gets model-specific seats, trimmed in Alcantara, as well as new door panels a different dashboard finish on the passenger side.
The Ferrari KC23 is scheduled to head to the Ferrari Museum in Maranello where it will be on display for enthusiasts to admire from 1 August 2023 to 2 October 2023, after making its first public appearance at Goodwood Festival of Speed.
