Fiat releases details of the new Uno

The new Fiat Uno is engineered and produced in Brazil, in collaboration with Fiat in Italy, and will go on sale in the Brazilian market later this month, and other South American countries in the second half of the year. Fiat has not officially confirmed whether the new Uno will be marketed in other parts of the world.

The new Uno measures 3,770mm in length, 1,643mm in width and 1,490mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,370mm, which means it fits in between the Panda and Punto in Fiat's range. Boot capacity is quoted at 280 litres.

The Uno will be available in a variety of models, including one with a pseudo-SUV version called the Uno Way which features a higher road clearance and rugged looks. Two engines will be offered initially, with a 1.0-litre flex-fuel version producing 73-75bhp, and a 1.4-litre unit with 85-88bhp. Both engines will have a five-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
