Fiat has revealed the first images of its new Grande Panda.
The new car is being launched to mark the firm's 125th anniversary. Based on a new, global multi-energy Smart Car platform, the Grande Panda stretches out at 3,990mm long, allowing it to carry five in comfort.
At the front, the Fiat Grande Panda gets a gloss black upper grille, alongside head lights which are made of opal cubes and said to be inspired by the facade of its Lingotto factory. From the flank, the car gets a boxy silhouette, said to recall the Panda from the 80s. At its lower section, an embossing is utilised to produce the 'Panda' letters.
The rear of the car also sports strong C-pillars, while here, the 'Fiat' name is replicated via the same embossing technique - another design homage to the original Panda. Fiat states that the car’s prominent wheel arches, the inclination of the windows, the overall layout of the rear window, headlights, and skid plates have all been designed to confer the car a stable and protective appearance.
The Grande Panda is set to be but the first of a new product in the family and will first arrive in markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. It will be available in with both a hybrid and all-electric drivetrain. Fiat plans to follow the launch of the Grande Panda with the launch of a new vehicle every year until 2027.
