Five millionth Skoda Fabia rolls off production line

Skoda is celebrating a new milestone: The five millionth Skoda Fabia has rolled off the production line at its factory in Mlada Boleslav.
Now in its fourth generation, the Fabia was first introduced in 1999 to the Skoda lineup as the successor to the Felicia hatch.
It's worth remembering that Skoda had already come under the stewardship of Volkswagen Group then, and the first-generation Fabia was a beneficiary of this new parenthood when it debuted, riding atop of a completely new Group platform at that time.
Four years later, in 2003, Skoda also gave the Fabia the sporty treatment with the introduction of an RS variant, which was powered by a 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine that put out 129bhp.
The second-generation car, introduced in 2007, saw the Fabia lineup expanding even further with the Monte Carlo trim. A new Scout variant also landed, packing offroad design features, while the Fabia RS was updated with a new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churned out 177bhp.
The third-generation Fabia premiered in 2014 with more dynamic presence and extra safety assistance features than its predecessor. But it was arguably the current fourth-generation car that cemented the impression that most folks have today of the Fabia as a compact hatch that can punch well above its weight.
Built atop of the MQB A0 platform, the Fabia now measures more than 4.1m in length, and boasts a generous boot of 380 litres (the same size as the Volkswagen Golf, which sits one segment above).
It should come as no surprise, then, that Skoda isn't intending to pump the brakes with the Fabia despite its growing transition to fully electric cars.
Speaking on the news, Andreas Dick, Skoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, said, "Given the continued success of the current fourth generation – a practical, efficient vehicle packed with modern technology and a wide range of safety features – we will continue producing the Fabia beyond 2030."
